Convinced her to get the Dart, but her Dad wouldn't go for the gt...

Kinja'd!!!

She got the SXT and it didnt take long for me to Shoop it!

Lowered, Black stockers, Big 'Ole Lip, Blacked out grille... you know, the basics.

Her last name is Streng so that's where the play on words came from...

Sweet :) good man. It's the only aluminium-bodied compact I know of. That's a pretty big technological thing for such a small car.

They look excellent too.

dodge really needs to push that SRT4 dart thing. It would make a great competitor to the golf R, CLA, GTi, even STi's......

Yeah I want to mod the crap out of it, but her dad knows nothing about cars (typical car salesman) and is scared for me to touch it. It pisses me off, but it's not my car.

Not many choices, in that case, I guess.

I tested the Dart, the Focus hatch, the Fit, and the 2012 Mazda3....

Dart was by far the comfiest, ergonomics-wise and was tied with the Fit for my top two choices.

If it's new then I'd hold off until the warranty's finished. Lots of things you might do could void it.

Also, it baffles me how you can be a car salesman and not know anything about cars. Nothing would put me off more than someone trying to sell me a car and getting basic facts about it wrong.

Not that he necessarily does mind you. He could know nothing about cars, but know a lot about the product he's selling.

is the SXT the one with the 1.4T?

I'd get that motor and then put a snorty Abarth-style exhaust on it.

I understand the warranty issues, but I'm referring to his caution towards plastidip for the wheels and front valence because he is scared to death of it. "A TEMPORARY PEELABLE RUBBER COATING? BUT ITS IN AN AEROSOL CAN IT MUST BE SPRAY PAINT!!!"

I wouldn't dare do any engine mods or suspension mods yet, but appearance modifications are my specialty and would really help this thing stand out in a crowd.

Ohh he knows the sales points and the technical details and I'm sure he knows all of the services the dealership itself offers to the normal person who couldn't change a wiper blade, but not much about aftermarket or working on cars. Everything is taken to his dealership for service. While I can diagnose most problems myself and fix them myself. I'm sure the discounts and freebies he gets as an employee are worth it, but not everything you do to the car by yourself is evil and shoddy.

They still make it and they're still just as ugly as they were on day 1! Just as dated with the last gen boxy dodge body language too.

What year is it? I know if it's a 14 it had the 2.4 which is a pretty good engine and more driveable than the turbo but I do prefer my 1.4L. There are indeed plenty of mods available though there doesn't seem to be much in the way of performance mods for the naturally aspirated engines.

My theory:

Not enough Dart sales to make SRT Dart business case

Dart sales low because (among other factors) SRT Neon/Caliber loyalists in the market for new cars are holding out for an SRT version

Catch 22, man :(

Pretty sure most of the Dart is steel. It has an aluminum hood though.

Well colour me surprised. It turns out the Giulietta's not alloy bodied either. I wonder where I got that from.

Still a cool car though :)

Ah gotcha. Based on how fucking excellent your Mustang looks, I definitely trust you on the cosmetic modifications front. A plasti-dipped black spoiler and wheels would look excellent.

Maybe you could show him what it does on a junk piece of plastic. How you can spray it on, let it dry and then just peel it off with no harm done.

Actually, the best thing to do would be to convince your girlfriend. That increases the likelihood that she'd just get you to do it regardless of what her dad thinks.

Dangerous thinking that, though :)

In complete honesty, I wouldn't go for the GT myself. the 1.4T (I think this is the one) offers the same torque rating and we can open it up later for power, and I think the Rallye styling is superior.
